5 Perfect Summer Night Dates in Rexburg

If you are interested in someone that has a job or is currently working hard at their classes, it can be hard to find time together. This usually means that most of the time you’re together it’s long after the sun has gone down. If you’re looking for some fun ideas of dates to do after dark, here are a few suggestions to get you started on your way.

  1. Night Golfing

Night Golfing at the Sand Dunes, just outside of Rexburg, is a super fun way to spend the evening. What you’ll need:

  • Golf balls (You can pick these up at Walmart or Big 5)
  • Golf clubs (There are almost always cheap golf clubs for sale at DI)
  • Glow sticks
  • Plastic bag

Head out to the dunes once it’s nice and dark outside. Put the golf balls in the bag and then cut open the glow sticks and dump the liquid inside all over your golf balls. Now that you have beautifully glowing golf balls, practice your swing by hitting them off the top of one of the tall dunes. The trail of sand that they leave behind makes them look like amazing shooting stars as they disappear into the night.

  1. BYU-I Garden/Orchard Games

This is the perfect activity for a large group date. Pick a few games to play throughout the gardens like capture the flag. Then divide up into teams and start your game. It might be a good idea to have each team wear a different color of glow stick necklace or bracelet so it’s easier to tell team members apart in the dark.

  1. Night Canoeing

First, you’ll need to find a canoe. Sometimes BYU-I rents canoes out for the day so that might be worth looking into, or you can ask around to see if anyone lives locally and would be willing to lend you a canoe. The warm slough is a great place to go, because in the middle of summer the snow runoff calms down, so it shouldn’t be too deep in most places. Make sure to enjoy the amazing bright stars while you paddle along.

  1. Campfire

Enjoying s’mores around a campfire is a wonderful way to get to know your date in a nice, relaxed environment. There are plenty of fire pits around in the city of Rexburg, or you can head out of town for a little wilderness adventure.

  1. Duck Pond

There are a few good evening events to do at the duck pond. If you arrive just before dark, you can walk around the pond, feed the ducks and watch the sunset together. Or you can take a page out of the night golfing activity. Bring a few good rocks for stone skipping, a bag and some glow sticks. Break the glowsticks open and mix the rocks with the liquid. Then enjoy some glow in the dark rock skipping. Just make sure to thoroughly wash your hands after handling the glowing liquid.

Bonus! If you're looking for a simple date night that doesn't require a lot of money or travel, try a fun movie night and snacks in the lounge at your student housing complex! Sunrise Village as a lounge dedicate to its tenants for such an occasion.

Now that you have a few ideas up your sleeve you just need a significant other or fun friend to go and have a great time with. Not all dates have to be serious, but all dates can certainly be fun!
